The goal of the Dowdy Scholars Enrichment Program is to keep students academically challenged, while building character and fostering leadership skills. The program is designed to allow academically talented students to achieve their full potential through co-curricular programming, academic rigor and mentorship.

What is the Dowdy Scholars Enrichment Program?
The Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Scholars Enrichment Program is a preeminent scholarship established in the Fall 2008 and awarded to entering freshman who have shown excellence in academics and scholarly leadership during their high school matriculation. The prestigious Dowdy Scholars Enrichment Program celebrate two phenomenal educators - the late Dr. Lewis C. Dowdy, sixth president of North Carolina A&T College and first chancellor of North Carolina A&T State University and his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Dowdy. They served the University for twenty-one years, which included the tumultuous 1960s and 1970s.
